I will be pretty busy this next several months due to some good news that my younger brother is getting married this summer! I do not know if I will be posting much as I also am crocheting different gifts for family members, so for now Happy Easter. #Heisrisen

TOOLS| Embellishments & Dollar Tree

 

Have you recently visited your nearest Dollar Tree store? They have these cute designed wallpaper stickers and I love using these to decorate my journal pages. I use my cutting tools to size down the stickers to my desired length/width and stick it into the pages for a bit of pop inside my journals. Go check it out in the home goods aisle or nearby the crafting aisle (generally, that's where you will find these awesome finds). Happy hunting!

I think JetPens was introduced to me by my younger sister a few years ago and I have been following  them on YouTube ever since that time. I'd like to share this video about their journal and stationary supplies because it is some of the neatest things I have seen. Please check out their channel for more ideas on journal writing ideas!

JOURNAL HAUL | Superstores

Sometimes the Kroger's store (specifically the Smith's Superstore) has a some cute notebooks and journals. That's where I got my current journal. I got the stickers from the Dollar Tree and is one of my go to for stickers to embellish my journals. This journal has so much cute colors and for me I do love fun colors!

Privacy or Secrets

A journal is usually kept privately to write down our deep thoughts. So sometimes having a type of code or secret message writing helps keep prying eyes away. I did make up a fake alphabet once about seven plus years ago to tinker around with. Here are some ideas if anyone is interested!

Stenography/Short Hand

With this handwriting style, it  is mainly used by secretaries and court stenographers to quickly and efficiently write down events. If you are interested in learning more about shorthand script to use for journal writing, this website is great to check out: Speed Writing Article

Morse Code

Being made up of dashes, dots, and spaces to convey a message, this is another fun cipher to use to write in your journals to keep it private and secret. To learn more about the history, check out this article: Britannica.

Fantasy Alphabets

Finally, looking into different fantasy video games and books,  they are great references to use the alphabets in your own journals. Tolkien's Middle Earth and Skyrim are two that come to mind that have their own fictional languages as an example.

Crafts + Crochet

TYPES | Writing Tools

A brand that is popular for your writing tools is Jet Pens. They have a variety of amazing tools for writers and this is not sponsored. It is a bit of a shout out as they have quality brands that I do recommend if you are interested in any types of writing tools to look into or want to try.

Gel Pens

In the past and now, I like to use the multicolored gel pens to color coordinate in a planner and doodles for my journals. They are a smooth writing experience and the fine tip ones from Papermate are my favorite gel pens so far! They have the Inkjoy series which is quite popular.

Roller Ball

The more traditional pens, Papermate and Jetpens have a variety of options from 1.2mm to 0.8mm types. Depending on the paper type or quality, it depends on what thickness or fine-lined pen I use to write in for my different journals.

Marker

With markers, these are always fun to use in different colors for thicker papers for journals or scrapbooks. They are great for drawing embellishments in planners too!

Fountain Pen

Currently, I have experience using the Jinhao brand of reusable fountain pens. They also have refillable cartridges that they come with or you can also buy the pre-filled ink cartridges on Amazon. Their brand of fountain pens are affordable and a good quality if you are first using these kinds of pens.

Highlighter 

With highlighters, I rarely have used them and usually I have with planners or if I'm in the mood to decorate my journals a bit more. Jetpens has a variety of highlighters that are great to check out! They also have Youtube videos detailing more of the brands they carry and it's worth a look into.

Which types of writing tools do you use or like the most and why?

TOOLS | Organizers

 With journal-writing, I like to incorporate several embellishments to my pages from stickers and washi tapes to scrapbooking papers and other souvenirs. To keep my stuff of those items organized (as well as my multicolored gel pens, pencils, and regular pens) I like to store them in a storage container and I usually get mine mainly at the thrift store. However, there are similar or brand new desk storage containers on Amazon that I do suggest with storing your journal tools. What do you keep in your desk organizers?

SPOTLIGHT | Libraries and Cafes

 

Libraries or cafes are a great space for peace and quiet when you need a place to write and meditate. With cafes, you get a great snack while writing too! Meanwhile, with libraries you have many resources for inspiration when journal writing if you need the inspiration. I'd recommend checking out any local places around you for your comfort writing space.

Sometimes browsing the thrift store gives you a nice surprise like this Paper Blank Journal. These are one of the journal brands I find rather beautiful in their cover designs. If you are into decorative styled journals, this is one of the good brands that has you covered.
