TOOLS | Paper

Being a big fan of journaling, paper quality is a must for me! To start off, here are some types of papers according to Bookblock's website.

1. Bond
Usd for government official document and is a high quality paper that is durable and often used for letters.

2. Wood-Free
The types of pulp used are not from wood so a common alternative are tissue (chemically treated to remove the lignin aspect); non-wood pulp from cotton, hemp, and linen usually found in art and photography papers; bamboo fibers (renewable and sustainable materials); and a recent one that I found to be the interesting type is stone (which is made from recycled stone or powdered limestone and is water and flame resistant).

3. Wove
A non-textured paper used commonly in printers and is "a plain paper with a smooth finish" to quote Bookblock.

4. Munken
Originated from monks, it is made of an exclusive wood-free paper of high quality.  They also have different grades of quality suited for any needs.

5. Recycled
Coming from a variety of sources, they are reusing paper wastes and has to have "50% to 100% recycled content" and comes from either newsstands, printer waste, and waste from a cutting as well as office wastes.

6. Parchment
A thicker and a bit on the coarse side, it is usually found for crafting and art-related hobbies that comes in a deep gold color or cream to replicate paper from the medieval ages.

7. Card
A thicker and heavy paper typ, it is used in greeting cards or indexing as well as posters. Card stocks are also used in crafting and other artistic hobbies.

8. Cotton
Also called "rag paper", it is very durable and lasts for years and the grade quality comes in sets of "25% up to 100%" and money is often printed in these types of paper.

9. Cartridge/Artist
Often called a draing or sketch paper, it is weighty and textured kind of paper. Watercolor paper, meanwhile, is heavier and can be partially made with cotton to absorb water.

10.  Newsprint
Being the cheapest material, it has tthe shortest lifespan and is a light kind of paper.

11.  Laid
It has visible lines where wiring cylinders pressed into it while being made, giving it texture and "appearance of weight". It makes it look like it was handmade and luxurious. Often it is used for letterheads.

12.  Transparent
Finally, this paper type is thin and light as well as see-through usually used by architects and engineers to have a traceable kind of paper.

In all, paper you choose and paired with writing tools can be a great pairing and sometimes can even alter handwriting styles. More on writing tools to come to follow up!
